India added 268 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases increased to 3,552, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday. The Covid case tally was recorded at 4.46 crore (4,46,77,915).
The death count stands at 5,30,698 with two fatalities with one reconciled by Kerala and one death reported from Maharashtra in the last 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.11 per cent while the weekly positivity was pegged at 0.17 per cent, the ministry said.

Chhattisgarh on Thursday reported three COVID-19 cases at a positivity rate of 0.17 per cent, taking the tally to 11,77,752, while the toll remained unchanged at 14,146, an official said.
The recovery count stood at 11,63,599 after two people were discharged during the day, leaving the state with seven active cases, he said.
Mumbai on Thursday reported nine COVID-19 cases, which took the tally here to 11,55,117, while the death toll remained unchanged at 19,746, a civic official said.
The addition to the tally was a rise from the four cases detected on Wednesday, he pointed out.
The recovery count increased by three to reach 11,35,321, leaving the city with an active caseload of 50, he said.
The national capital recorded 11 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours, with a case positivity rate of 0.29 per cent, stated a bulletin issued by the Delhi Health Department on Thursday.
According to the bulletin, 11 Covid patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,98,0643.
However, no death from Covid was reported over the last 24 hours.
As part of the country’s ongoing vaccination drive, 1,319 Covid vaccine shots were administered in the city in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally to 3,73,56,959.
Mizoram has decided not to impose COVID-19 curbs as of now as the state has not reported any fresh case in the last 17 days.
The decision was taken during Chief Secretary Renu Sharma’s meeting with health officials to review the COVID situation in the state.
During the meeting, it was observed that there was no necessity to impose restrictions as of now as the state has neither reported any COVID case for 17 days from December 13 nor has any Omicron BF.7 variant infection been detected.
Maharashtra on Thursday reported 27 new coronavirus infections which took the tally of cases in the state to 81,36,615, the health department said in a release.
With one death being reported since previous evening, the toll due to the pandemic rose to 1,48,417.
Maharashtra had reported 26 new COVID-19 cases and one death on Wednesday.
A Chandigarh University student, who returned from the United States (US) two days ago, has been tested positive, authorities said on Thursday.
As per information, the student had gone to the US regarding an assignment.

Delhi logged 13 fresh COVID-19 cases on Wednesday with a positivity rate of 0.33 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department here. No Covid-related death was reported, it said.
The national capital had reported 16 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday with a positivity rate of 0.44 per cent.
Delhi reported seven cases on Monday with a positivity rate of 0.39 per cent.

Three new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Maharashtra’s Thane district, taking its infection tally to 7,47,397, a health official said on Thursday. The latest infections were reported on Wednesday, he said.
There are currently 11 active COVID-19 cases in the district, which comes under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, he said.
India recorded 188 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases to 4,46,77,647.
The Covid-related death count stood at 5,30,696 as no new death reported in the last 24 hours.
